Replacement is often best when an existing chiller is more than ten years old. New chillers are more efficient than earlier models. The improved efficiency of a replacement chiller alone can result in a reasonable project payback period.
The entire chiller change-out and installation can be financed. The monthly interest and principal payments could be less than the resulting monthly energy savings. Due to the increased equipment efficiency, building owners could experience an immediate positive cash flow.
